Multimedia fusion of dance and theatre, "Una" brings CU-ATLAS audiences unique coming-of-age journey through three worlds of color, darkness and music.

Una, a multimedia fusion of dance and theatre, brings a unique coming-of-age story to the CU-ATLAS Black Box theatre. An ambitious production with five actors, seven dancers, two musicians and video, Una is the creative vision of CU-MFA dance student Katie Key.

"We tell the story of a young women named 'Una' as she grows up, journeying through three different worlds, each with their own challenges," explained choreographer/producer Katie Key, "Each world–good, bad, extraordinary or routine–is expressed through bold color, beautiful costumes, original live and recorded music, plus video."

Seating will be arranged in the shape of a triangle. Audience members will surround and view performers on three sides in a variation of theatre-in-the-round. Dancers and actors will perform both inside and outside the triangle, breaking the fourth wall–and immersing the audience in Una's world.

The video artwork, projected on to huge screens as background for the performers, will vary in subject matter and style–from 1960's traditional kitchen to stop motion animation to nature imagery.

Director and performer Key summed up, "In spite of all the color designed into this production, some may see this piece as quite dark. It explores materialism, addiction and our mortality. It may stir up emotions."

Katie Key, MFA dance student at the CU department of Theater and Dance, teaches jazz, ballet, and modern dance. She has danced professionally in several companies in Chicago and New York City, and produced and choreographed her own production in Manhattan.

Performances of Una are free and open to the public. Seating is limited and first come, first served. Reservations are recommended.

Note: THERE IS NO LATE SEATING.
